On May 22nd King School at 2:15 – students will go
out into the playground area to partake in our first annual kite, bubble,
sidewalk chalk, and giant ice cream sundae celebration.
Students in 4thand 5th grade will receive a kite to fly,
students in 3rdgrade will
receive bubble wands, students in 1st and 2ndwill receive a bottle of bubbles, and
kindergarten students will receive sidewalk chalk.
Mrs. Hoschek will purchase 20 gallons of vanilla ice cream and Hershey’s
chocolate to fill a clean new wading pool, and ice cream sundaes will be scooped
out and provided to each student and staff member.
It is a tradition that was done in Canton where I
was principal, and one that was the highlight and culmination activity of each
school year. I am hoping it will be a great last day school year memory for our
students and staff.
I have totally enjoyed my first year back in Galesburg after being in
other districts for the last ten years. I have lived in the Galesburg/Knoxville
area my whole life. I actually lived on Baird Avenue when I was a young girl
attending Costa and Galesburg High School. It has been a joy getting back in
touch with families I have known for many years and getting to know the students
of King. It is so much fun to learn about connections with families, and we even
have some of my former students’ from Galesburg High School children at King.
I am looking forward to summer
break. This year has been a huge learning curve for me, but I will be excited to
start the new year in August. Have a wonderful safe
summer!!
